Segway Tours: Now, for all of you who have never experienced a segway tour, this is your chance!  Have you ever seen a segway?  Have you ridden a segway??  Well, if not, now is your chance!  Discover this alternative transportation method in a safe and fun environment.  You will have a tour guide who will take you throughout uptown Charlotte, where you can be up close and personal to all of the sights!  The charge is $50/person, but definitely worth it!  The tour is three hours and includes a 30-45 minute training session.  This tour will require advance sign up so that the proper arrangements can be made with the company and you must be at least 18 years old.  Take this opportunity to experience something new!!
Museum Tour
Where: Levine Museum of the New South
Charlotte, NC
United States

We will include a tour of The Levine Museum of the New South for those who would like to go. The tour will focus on the history, architecture, and unique aspects of Charlotte.

The Levine Museum of the New South features the nationally known, award winning exhibit Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers: Charlotte and the Carolina Piedmont in the New South. This exhibit showcases the extraordinary growth of Charlotte, as well as the struggles of its citizens. Covering 8,000 square feet, the exhibit features Charlotte and its 13 surrounding counties as a case study to illustrate the profound changes in the South since the Civil War.

Visitors enjoy an interactive, hands-on experience as they tour 6 different "environments" within the exhibit.
  • Step inside a one-room tenant farmers house
  • Run a hand through a pile of seed cotton
  • Listen to the churning of the cotton mill
  • Play checkers on the front porch of a mill house
  • Sit in Good Samaritans Hospital Chapel, one of the first African-American hospitals in the SouthWalk down main street and try on a hat in an early Belk department store
  • Sit at a lunch counter and hear personal accounts from local sit-in leaders

This would be a great family outing and we encourage all of you to participate. This will be a family outing to remember!
Charlotte Group Bus Tour
When: 09/04/2010
Where: Charlotte, NC
United States

We have been working hard to ensure that there are plenty of activities available for everyone during the reunion weekend.  One group activity that was planned was a trolley tour of Charlotte.  This would have been a great way for the entire family to see firsthand what the city of Charlotte has to offer.  However, we have been recently informed by the Executive Director of the organization that due to budget cuts, Charlotte will no longer offer railway trolley rides after July 1st.  Therefore, this activity has to be cancelled.

We have, however, organized a bus tour of Charlotte.  The tour will include a journey into Charlotte's entertainment areas, including museums, galleries and restaurants.  We will also go into the historic neighborhoods and much more.  We will have a tour guide who will not only tell you about the history of Charlotte, but also all of the exciting things that Charlotte has to offer now.  We can also include a stop at any one of the local galleries, museums or shopping areas.  This will also be the best time to take a family picture while in the heart of Charlotte.

This is a great activity, but there is an additional cost.  The cost per person would be $22.  This would cover the cost of the bus, driver, and tour guide.

If you would be interested in participating, please use the "contact us" link to let us know ASAP.  If you would like to participate, we ask you to submit $15 in order to reserve your seat on the bus.  This activity will have to be paid in advance, so you will not have the opportunity to pay on the day of the event.  Only those that have paid in advance will be able to attend the tour.  Seats are limited and, as such, are on a first paid basis.  Reserve your seat ASAP!
